I've been featured!

I meant to write tell you about this days ago but it has slipped my mind.
I had this lovely email from Bec at Radish&Ruth. She had found my felted easter eggs on Madeit and featured them in her blog.

Ohhhh what a treat! Thank you Bec. I insist all should jump over now and take a look both at her blog Radish & Ruth and her Madeit & Etsy stores. She has some delicious recipes, absolutely gorgeous needle felted garlands, and I'm very tempted by her broaches....
Tell her Amber sent you!

Sunday, sunday

I'm taking a break from labeling bottles of chemicals and thought I'd drop in for a ramble.

It is so quiet here in the lab on a Sunday I feel like some company. Most times I love the quiet, no little dreamlets underfoot, no helping one get in and out of pants to get off and on the toilet, no coming up with new activities and sorting out whos turn it is with which toy. like I say, normally I love my weekend work day but today it is a little lonely in here by myself, particularly as I've been hauled up inside a room, inside a room, inside a room! Yup, you can't get more isolated than the storage room for all the poisons used in the Lab.

Anyhoo, as there is no one here, I thought I'd chat to you. Keeping me company today has been Two little banshees. I've spent my lunch break browsing pages and pages of her fabulous blog going back in time, watching her kiddies get younger and younger! She is a fabulously creative woman living in the SW of Western Australia. I have seen many of her softies around both in the Softies book & at the Perth Upmarket so it was kinda nice to get to know her through her blog.

Just some of the things I've bookmarked to come back to later are her recipe for pumpkin bread:

and an easy quilt pattern made from fat quarters:

Thank You Kate for bringing a little crafty sunshine into my otherwise very dreary day :)

Now back to auditing the chemical store.....

Yoghurt Pop Recipe

Its been so hot here in Perth. Hot and humid......bleugh! I'm over it.

One of the things that is getting us through is these icy cold treats. So here's a recipe which will cool you down AND get forbidden fruit into the mouths of your kiddlets. If yours are anything like mine and give you a performance like they are being poisoned with arsenic every time you try to get them to eat anything that isn't an apple or banana, this is the recipe for you.

Delicious yoghurt pops. The trick with these is to use jelly crystals. This softens the final mix so it isn't so 'icy' and crunchy. They are yummo!

OK lets go......

Grab your materials:
Kettle for boiling water, icy-pole moulds & a food processor.
1 packet jelly crystals, fresh or frozen fruit (approx 1 cup) and 1 cup yoghurt.

Place 1 packet of jelly crystals (flavour of your choice) in your food processor.

Zussss it up with 1 cup of boiling water until crystals dissolve. Allow this to cool a bit (unless you are going to use frozen fruit)

If you are using frozen fruit continue right along. If your fruit is room temp make sure your jelly mixture is luke warm.
Ok, add 1 banana or cup of berries/peaches/apricots etc. Use whatever you have in season & in the fridge. I've added both banana AND 1 cup of peaches and it was delicious!
Zusss again until your fruit is well blended and has no lumps (no lumps is VITAL when dealing with a 4yr old fusspot).
Add 1 cup of natural yoghurt.
Zusss again and you're just about done!
 Pour into moulds

Freeze for 6hrs or overnight (no-brainer)

Enjoy!

Let me know what your favourite combos are. At the moment ours is 'Pink rocket pops' (port wine jelly, blueberries & raspberries).

PS. if you didn't like to use jelly crystals, you can use plain gelatine or agar-agar. THis would cut down on the sugar content & artificial flavours/colours, but hey - they're a treat!

It's here again! Celebrate the Boy

I know all crafty people who know, or have boys of their own are always finding it hard pressed to sew up some fabulous things for their boys. Being a mother to a 4 year old Little Man, I know that here is just not enough out there in BlogLand for our boys. Thank goodness the girls from MADE and Made by Rae are doing their second annual Celebrate the Boy month.

I'll be adding their button to my sidebar because I'll be eagerly awaiting the twice daily posts of all things BOY! I will also trawl through my 4 years of archives to hunt down some of my boy posts and maybe even come up with something new for the boys!

So play along.

Tulle Pom Pom Hair Clips now at Joallie Petit !

Its official. My fabulously soft Tulle Pom Pom 'Puffs' are now being sold alongside the wonderful creations of Joallie Petit. Jo makes the most intricate appliqued hair clips all designed and handcrafted. They are just beautiful! You should absolutely flick on over and have a browse through her loveliness.

Jo and I have been chatting on Facebook and over the phone since I first met her at the Christmas UpMarkets. After months of chatting, it was fabulous to finally meet again in the flesh. We caught up on a super windy Friday morning at a newly discovered coffee shop in Guildford. We tucked ourselves away in the back corner of the shop on some comfy couches and nattered away over tea & coffee for a couple of hours. Good thing Jo had a lunch date or I would swear we would still be there!

Jo has been a huge help to me and has been very generous in sharing her expertise & wisdom in the basics of clip making right through to marketing, product development and the pitfalls of a WHAM business. It has been so valuable to have both Jo and Jen as supporters of the smaller business and I'm thrilled to have a product that is now being sold alongside her beautiful creations.

My Miss T has been wearing her's for months so it is very exciting to be now sharing these out to all the other deserving wee girls & young ladies alike! So, look gorgeous out at ballet or in the school yard. Get your gal a pair of Pom Pom Hairclips, only $9.50 for set of two.

Tulle pom pom hair clip modeling!

The photo of my wee man modeling the Tulle Pom Pom Hairclips didn't come through with my last post (damn mobile posting) so here he is. Whilst he looks a little pensive in this photo, he really wasn't.

I have some exciting news about my hair clips that I hope to share with you on Friday, so stay tuned! I can't say much now, except to say that if I didn't believe in fate I sure do now.

In your own life, do you sometimes feel that the stars are all aligned just for you? I feel that so strongly now, a missed opportunity earlier in the year has now come around again, purely through fate. I'm not going to miss it this time, I'll grab it with both hands and see where it takes me........

I had to show you my new hair clip model.

He came outside today & wanted two red clips on each side of his head. Of course I obliged and took photos.

Poor guy, I'm going to have do much ammunition got his 21st. He's just so damn cute though.

Here is a pick of the other hair clips I made last night.

I'll list them in the MollydagMade store soon.

And off he goes....

Our wee man was off to his very first day of Kindy today. All four of us walked him to school this and dropped him at his classroom. Giles was so excited & confident. When we got there he put his bag away found his name tag then went off to find a puzzle to play with. Tilly thought Kindy was pretty cool too. I think she thought she was at daycare! After a couple of minutes of play we kissed him goodbye and hucked it on out of there.

Turns out he had a brilliant day. He told the teacher a 'secret' (that he had Lightning McQueen yoghurt in his lunch box! Pretty big for a 4 yr old), did a colouring in which we hung in the toy room, played inside and out, sung, read a story on the mat - and all of this within 3 hours! Lets hope he enjoys next week just as much.

Dolly quilt set

How comfy does Rosy look lounging in bed.

She is just trying out the new quilt & mattress I whipped up for Baby G who turned 1 last week. Every little girl needs something to wrap her dolly in.

I liked this commissioned piece as it was paid for in wine. Yipee, 2 bottles of delicious Stella Bella. Thanks Barb, I'm going to squirrel them away for something special. I think Mr Brown & I might go to the Sommerville next week and have a little date night. XX

Night-night Ruby, sweet dreams.........
