I've been featured!
I had this lovely email from Bec at Radish&Ruth. She had found my felted easter eggs on Madeit and featured them in her blog.
Ohhhh what a treat! Thank you Bec. I insist all should jump over now and take a look both at her blog Radish & Ruth and her Madeit & Etsy stores. She has some delicious recipes, absolutely gorgeous needle felted garlands, and I'm very tempted by her broaches....
Tell her Amber sent you!

Sunday, sunday
It is so quiet here in the lab on a Sunday I feel like some company. Most times I love the quiet, no little dreamlets underfoot, no helping one get in and out of pants to get off and on the toilet, no coming up with new activities and sorting out whos turn it is with which toy. like I say, normally I love my weekend work day but today it is a little lonely in here by myself, particularly as I've been hauled up inside a room, inside a room, inside a room! Yup, you can't get more isolated than the storage room for all the poisons used in the Lab.
Anyhoo, as there is no one here, I thought I'd chat to you. Keeping me company today has been Two little banshees. I've spent my lunch break browsing pages and pages of her fabulous blog going back in time, watching her kiddies get younger and younger! She is a fabulously creative woman living in the SW of Western Australia. I have seen many of her softies around both in the Softies book & at the Perth Upmarket so it was kinda nice to get to know her through her blog.
Just some of the things I've bookmarked to come back to later are her recipe for pumpkin bread:
and an easy quilt pattern made from fat quarters:

Tulle Pom Pom Hair Clips now at Joallie Petit !
Jo and I have been chatting on Facebook and over the phone since I first met her at the Christmas UpMarkets. After months of chatting, it was fabulous to finally meet again in the flesh. We caught up on a super windy Friday morning at a newly discovered coffee shop in Guildford. We tucked ourselves away in the back corner of the shop on some comfy couches and nattered away over tea & coffee for a couple of hours. Good thing Jo had a lunch date or I would swear we would still be there!
Jo has been a huge help to me and has been very generous in sharing her expertise & wisdom in the basics of clip making right through to marketing, product development and the pitfalls of a WHAM business. It has been so valuable to have both Jo and Jen as supporters of the smaller business and I'm thrilled to have a product that is now being sold alongside her beautiful creations.
My Miss T has been wearing her's for months so it is very exciting to be now sharing these out to all the other deserving wee girls & young ladies alike! So, look gorgeous out at ballet or in the school yard. Get your gal a pair of Pom Pom Hairclips, only $9.50 for set of two.

Tools of the Trade
After the last post, you can imagine how handy this new tool is.
Every sewer HATES to unpick. This makes it a somewhat bearable task.
Good old Lee Valley Tools.
"Pro" Series...lol!!! Maybe double as a surgical scalpel if the needs arrises.

The Museum of Kitschy Stitches : by Stitchy McYarnpants
Check this out.
Here is the prize I won last weekend at Katherine's Tacky Vintage 240 Event. Need I say anymore than quote the title :
"The Museum of Kitschy Stitches - a Gallery of Notorious Knits.
By Stitchy McYarnpants.
Every time I pick this book up, I am in fits of giggles. I think I'll try and post a page a week.
Text reads:
"Ever wish you could have a wedgie consisting of an entire skein of your favorite yarn? Do you want to learn how to felt wool with your sweat while wearing it? Then have I got the project for you! This sensible bicycling outfit combines all the breathability of a plastic bag with the comfort of a bear trap. Add to that the unmatched creeping properties of knitted shorts, and you'll be tearing up the trails in no time!Amazingly, these shorts came down to her knees when she started the Tour de France earlier in the day. She's going to need a crowbar to get undressed."
Classy!

Good for a Giggle
This website makes me laugh out loud. Mary and Kimberly post kooky vintage clothing patterns at Threadbared.com and write snide captions for them. Enjoy a tour through the decades of fashion (the 70s is especially nice, I think) and start snickering.
